A community centre in North Kensington is preparing for an autumn makeover after winning £1,000 worth of decorating and DIY materials.
The Dalgarno Trust, in the heart of Ladbroke Grove, has scooped the prize from Leyland SDM through its Give London a Lift campaign.
Decorating and DIY specialist Leyland SDM, which has 31 stores across London, is giving away £10,000 worth of materials this year through the scheme.
The Dalgarno Trust will visit Leyland SDM’s Maida Vale store on Harrow Road to collect all of the materials needed to spruce up the community centre.
Alice Frankel, Administrator at The Dalgarno Trust, said: “We were over the moon when we heard we had been successful in the Give London a Lift competition.
“We’re a busy community centre and our purpose is to improve lives in North Kensington. We do this by bringing people of all ages from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds together so they can fulfil their potential and break the cycle of poverty, ill-health and deprivation.
“With an ever-growing food bank, youth programme and health programmes, the wear and tear on the building is considerable.
“This prize gives us the chance to fix things, as well as sprucing the place up. We have an amazing team of volunteers ready to do the work. Thank you, Leyland SDM.”
This year’s Give London a Lift campaign is being backed by former England and Arsenal footballer Paul Merson.
Paul Gerreli, Marketing Director at Leyland SDM, said: “The Dalgarno Trust is a great winner of our Give London a Lift campaign.
“It’s clear the community centre plays a key role in the Ladbroke Grove area. We’re really pleased to be able to support the good work they are doing.
“Our knowledgeable team at our Maida Vale store will make sure they have all the materials they need to make the centre look fantastic.”
Leyland SDM has become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in central London with stores in some of the capital’s most prominent locations.
