Charities, community groups, clubs and sports teams in north London are being given the chance to win a share of a £15,000 prize pot, after TG Lynes re-launched its successful Helping Hands campaign.
Leading heating, plumbing and air movement materials supplier TG Lynes, based in Enfield, is giving two good causes the opportunity to make long-lasting improvements to their facilities through the initiative.
The overall winner will secure £10,000 worth of product and labour to benefit their building, while a lucky runner-up will receive £5,000 of product and labour.
Any group or organisation based in the Enfield vicinity – extending south to Hornsey, north to Hoddesdon, east to Epping and West to Barnet – is eligible to enter.
This is the second year TG Lynes has demonstrated its support for its local community through Helping Hands, with Friends of Firs Farm and Teens Unite splitting the £15,000 prize equally last year.
Andrew Ingram, managing director of TG Lynes, said: “We’re delighted to be launching Helping Hands for a second year.
“Community is one of the four pillars on which the business is built as we recognise our responsibility to give back to Enfield, where we have been based for 20 years. That takes many shapes and forms, including volunteering and fundraising.
“Helping Hands allows us to make a significant difference to two great causes in 2023. Last year’s winners were thrilled with our support and I’m sure we will be inundated with applications again as groups continue to battle the cost of living crisis.”
Friends of Firs Farm has developed a disused green area at Firs Farm Wetlands and Playing Fields into a thriving space that is enjoyed by the local community.
TG Lynes’ £7,500 worth of support helped the group to create a community hub and cafe adjacent to the wetlands.
Toni Guiver, Chair of Friends of Firs Farm, said: “Winning Helping Hands was absolutely amazing. The timber-frame community hub is now in place and we are in the process of kitting it our ready to serve the 200 people a day who use the wetlands.
“It will be tremendous boost for the local community and TG Lynes have played a big part in that.”
Groups can apply for prizes to help them open new premises, recover a building from a state of disrepair or improve existing facilities.
Applications can be made on the TG Lynes website – www.tglynes.co.uk/helping-hands – by providing an overview of what the organisation does, how it benefits the community and how £10,000 worth of product and labour would help.
The winners will be decided by a team of judges at TG Lynes.
Applications will open on July 1 and will close at midnight on July 31.
TG Lynes stocks industry leading brands and supplies thousands of products including valves, steel and copper tubes and fittings, press systems, composite and plastic plumbing, drainage solutions and support systems and tooling. An extensive plant hire service is also available.
