A woman from Enfield features as an extra in a new music video, starring the Game of Thrones and Vigil actor Rose Leslie. ‘Hope Reborn’ is aiming to raise awareness of what it’s like to live with multiple sclerosis (MS).

The music video and accompanying classical music track have been created by the composer Fabio D’Andrea. Some of the profits from downloads of the track will be split between the MS Society and Overcoming MS.

Terri-Louise Brown was diagnosed with MS almost seven years ago. Her brother also lives with the condition. She said increasing understanding of MS is vital: “I advocate for myself, for those without a voice and for those who are simply tired. Taking part in this film was another way to raise awareness of MS. It’s important because one person learnt is another person unlearned. It really helps when people have a bit more knowledge and understanding about MS and what those two letters mean. Being diagnosed – it’s unfortunate but it’s not the end. It may be a life sentence, but it’s not a death sentence.”

Rose Leslie plays the lead role in the video. It sees her character being diagnosed with MS and finding support from the MS community.

Rose explained why she wanted to be involved: “I have been a passionate supporter of the MS Society for a few years now. So when they approached me to take part in this music video, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis and to highlight the invisible symptoms that people who are living with MS will often experience.

“I hope that it will also provide a positive message to anyone who does have this condition – that it’s still possible to live a full life.”

People with MS were involved throughout the process of making the film and supporters from both charities, like Terri-Louise, feature as extras in various scenes.

Fabio D’Andrea said: “I had an amazing workshop with volunteers from both charities. They were able to share stories about what’s happened in their lives. We were able to put those into the film itself. So some scenes have really been inspired from true life events.”

Fabio has previously partnered with celebrities to create films, accompanied by his music. The one that attracted the most attention is a music video he made with Mel B which focuses on domestic violence. It was created in collaboration with the charity, Women’s Aid.

Over 130,000 people live with MS in the UK. The condition can be relentless, painful and disabling.

The MS Society’s Chief Executive is Nick Moberly: “MS is an unpredictable condition and it’s different for everyone who lives with it. That’s why we’re so grateful to Fabio D’Andrea for making ‘Hope Reborn’, and to our supporter Rose Leslie for giving her time to play the lead role. We know it will do an amazing job to raise awareness of the realities of what it’s like to live with MS.”
