After a hugely critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run last year at the Gilded Balloon Susan Harrison will be performing her one-woman character comedy show ‘Should I Still Be Doing This’ in London. The show, directed by Fringe First Award winner Ben Target comes to the Soho Theatre Upstairs on Friday 24th & Saturday 25th April.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing my show to Soho for the first time, and finally giving London audiences the chance to (among other things!) talk to a panda and meet a woman who’s swallowed a girl in a well” SUSAN HARRISON
Despite still getting ID’d in one rough Tescos, Susan is no longer young. Now in her 40’s she may not have kids or any job security but she does have a lot of props and costumes… In this multiple character show we meet a host of joyfully bizarre characters, all of whom are female and are living life a little bit differently. Introducing those characters:
Sindy: is a Sindy doll who feels inadequate when compared to the more confident and conventionally beautiful Barbie. Since the Barbie film came out Sindy has been especially triggered and is trying to express herself to the audience in the hope that they might understand how she feels.
A woman who has swallowed a small girl in a well: One day an unremarkable middle-aged woman was living a normal life, going about her business, feeling independent and free, and the next moment she accidentally swallowed a small girl in a well. The girl is trapped inside her and the two battle for dominance. The woman longs for the day when the small girl won’t wake her up in the morning. She misses her independence and rails against the person living in her throat.
Fleur Delish: is a young podcast host who can tell what someone’s spirit animal is just by looking at them. She invites the audience to join her at a live recording of her podcast ‘How To Be Your Authentic Self’ which definitely won’t feature any interruptions from adverts or brand partnerships.
Panda: Mancunian (Gallagher-esque) Panda is pissed off at the zookeepers, who expect her to mate and keep trying to inseminate her. She feels nostalgic for the 90’s when people were more in the moment and is completely unimpressed by human beings and the way they behave.
Shellisa: Shellisa is an accident prone contortionist whose freelance lifestyle looks suspiciously similar to Susan’s…
Susan has taken 6 shows to the Edinburgh Fringe to great reviews including last year’s. She won a Three Weeks Editor’s Choice award for her show Creatures, which was picked up by Princess Productions to be developed into a TV taster. Susan’s Edinburgh Fringe show Folken Britain was seen by CBBC producers who invited her to join CBBC sketch show DNN in which she wrote & performed her own weekly segment. Following this, she was a series regular in BAFTA winning CBBC show Class Dismissed for two series. Her sketches for social media have gone viral several times featuring characters ranging from Liz Truss to Mary Wollstonecraft’s ghost.
Her sitcom pilot ‘Hopping’, co-created and written with her writing partner Lucy Trodd, was broadcast on BBC Radio. She is a regular podcast guest, most notably appearing on the cult favourite Beef and Dairy Network Podcast several times, including on the iconic Ted Danson episode – starring Ted Danson. She has starred in several productions for Big Finish in the Dr Who Universe, and most recently recorded an episode of The Paternoster Gang.
She is a longstanding member of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical and was part of the West End cast when the company won an Olivier Award in 2016. She has regularly performed in Mischief Theatre’s hugely popular Mischief Movie Night and has guested with the Comedy Store Players, Paul Merton and Suki Webster’s Improv Show, Austentatious and The Noise Next Door.
