SPECSAVERS Walworth Road is celebrating two decades of providing eye and hearing care to the community.
The store, which first opened in May 2005, is also marking a year since a major refurbishment that increased its number of testing rooms from six to eight. This expansion allowed the team to enhance its eye care and audiology services, including more space for hearing care services.
The store’s lead optometrist, who has been in optometry for 18 years, is also celebrating a special milestone – his sixth anniversary at the Walworth Road site. Over the years, Ravi Kotecha has helped shape the store’s growth, leading a team that has delivered over 220,000 eye tests since opening.
Ravi says: “I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this amazing team for the past six years.
“It’s been such a rewarding journey watching the store grow into a more clinically advanced, customer-focused business and I’m especially proud of the culture we’ve built here.
“We’ve shaped a team that’s passionate about learning, developing and delivering the highest standard of care, and I’m excited to see where the next 20 years takes us.”
The store’s 30 staff members have 100 years of experience within the industry between them, offering a range of services, including NHS and private eye tests, hospital-grade technology, including optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans. The store’s audiology services have also grown significantly, with new rooms dedicated to hearing care.
The store has become a hub for career progression, with one team member rising from optical assistant to lead audiologist. This development showcases the store’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing growth opportunities.
The store is also deeply committed to community outreach across Southwark and helping to break down barriers to accessing both NHS and private eye care. This includes offering language support.
As the store looks ahead, it aims to remain a leader in optometry and audiology care in the SE postcode. The team is committed to providing top-quality care and continuing its strong ties with the community.
