AN OPTICIANS in Walthamstow has donated winter care packages to those experiencing homelessness in their community.
Specsavers Walthamstow has partnered with Forest Churches Emergency Night Shelter (FCENS), an independent charity working to serve the needs of the homeless in Waltham Forest.
With the coldest months well under way, the store wanted to give back and offer more support to those at risk of and experiencing homelessness.
With help from Specsavers’ support office, the store was given 20 winter care packages to donate to a charity of its choice – including items such as hats, gloves, hand warmers, and flasks.
Akram Hussain, store manager at Specsavers Walthamsow, says: ‘We are delighted to partner with Forest Night Churches Emergency Shelter and provide their service users with some much-appreciated warm clothing and care packages.
‘As a store owned and run by local people, we’re glad we can work with a local charity to support those needing help in our communities – especially during a very cold and difficult time of the year.’
FCENS partners with local churches across Waltham Forest to support those experiencing homelessness, providing safe accommodation, hot meals, and companionship through the dedication of its volunteers.
Jean Ashley, office administrator at FCENS, say: ‘We are grateful for the kindness shown to our guests by Specsavers Walthamstow with their generous donation of winter essentials. Our guests will appreciate receiving these gifts.’
