The UK’s biggest celebration of street art, London Mural Festival, today reveals the theme of ‘Connection’ and announces dates of 5 to 29 September 2024 for its second edition. The festival will showcase some of the world’s best street artists working today.

Produced by Global Street Art, the UK’s largest and leading mural-painting organisation, the festival will bring together thousands of artists, communities, and visitors to celebrate London’s diverse people and places.

London Mural Festival returns to the capital after four years. The inaugural edition in 2020 was hailed as one of the few positive art stories during the global pandemic, with a vast majority of the murals still on show today.

This edition has seen more artists apply than ever before, with over 2,000 artists applying from 88 countries worldwide. The applications were open to artists at all stages in their careers, with the festival’s line-up showcasing the best in contemporary street art from all over the world. Festival organisers have also secured even more sites, with over 100 murals across London of which 50% will be located within local authority housing estates.

“London Mural Festival 2024 will help us build a better city for all. Murals breathe life and energy into our walls, turning the city into a gallery and bringing art to everyone, every day for free.” – Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture, and the Creative Industries

The festival aims to connect artists of different ages, styles, and disciplines to work together on special collaborative murals – further emphasising the theme of ‘connection’.

“London Mural Festival champions cultural exchange by fostering connections and inspiration in London’s cultural landscape, uniting art and artists within local neighbourhoods to create lasting public works of art which foster pride and connection within communities.” – Lee Bofkin, Global Street Art, and London Mural Festival Co-Founder

The festival will feature an incredible programme of live events, from parties and gigs to artist talks, tours, and workshops, bringing together a range of artists, communities, visitors, brands, and partners to celebrate the power of street art and its connections to the worlds of fashion, music, and design.
