A poll of 2,000 UK adults carried out by Papa John’s found Brits vote sandwiches, pizza and toasties as favoured lunchtime options and two thirds are bored of their current ready to eat lunch offering. Londoners (69%) took the top spot as being the most bored of their lunches, followed by Manchester (62%) which came in a close second.

On a mission to make lunchtime interesting as research reveals sandwiches, pizza and toasties as favourite lunch options, the pizza delivery chain is bringing handheld happiness back to lunches across the UK by delivering its new Papadia range – the ultimate sandwich, pizza hybrid made with their original recipe dough. Pizza lovers can try the exciting new product for FREE in some of the UK’s worst lunchtime locations, London, Manchester, and Bristol, between Wednesday 27th and Friday 29th April.

As nearly 3 million[1] people commute to work in the UK, the great return to work has also driven an even bigger return of mundane lunches as data shows that Brits miss preparing their own lunches at home, from freshly prepared salads to homemade soups and grilled toasties, all luxuries of working from home.

Nearly a third of Brits (31%) admit to buying a drab meal deal for lunch, with almost 70% of workers are bored of the classic lunchtime trio. It’s safe to say consumers are looking for a new lunchtime staple and Papa Johns might just have cracked it with its brand-new menu item.

Pizza-lovers can choose from four tasty flavours, including Philly Cheesesteak, Italian Sausage & Pepperoni, BBQ Chicken & Bacon and Philly Mushroom, which is also available in vegan. The all-new Papadias are available to purchase nationwide from Tuesday 19th April at papajohns.co.uk or via the Papa Johns app from £5.99*.

The research also unveiled that dry sandwiches largely dominated the top worst lunchtime offenders across the UK (33%), with a third of those in Newcastle admitting to putting up with soggy pasta in stained Tupperware and a fifth of those working in Manchester admit to tolerating burnt toasties.

Giles Codd, Senior Marketing Director at Papa John’s UK, said: “It’s clear from the research that Brits are bored of their lunch options and on the lookout for a new alternative, so we’re excited to offer Papadias to stores nationwide as a lunchtime option.”

“Heading back to the office shouldn’t mean stale sarnies and tired meal deals. Papadias make an ideal lunchtime alternative to enjoy at work or on-the-go that challenges the boring lunchtime routine and is set to be a menu favourite.”
