After raising over a whopping £22,000 for Medical Aid for Palestinians and Restless Beings last year, On This Land Events is returning to Jumbi Peckham on 27 November 2024 for a jam packed fundraising and solidarity event in support of the Gaza Sunbirds.
The Gaza Sunbirds are a Palestinian para-cycling team which distributes a variety of goods to the Gazan community including shelter, food, essentials, water, sanitary products, toilets and more.
The event in Peckham will feature performances from South London local Meron T, and Daniele Mizar, among others.
Last year, attendees were invited to participate in an auction, with crowdsourced prizes such as yoga classes and weekend retreats on offer to the highest bidder. This year, the auction returns with items such as staycations in Yorkshire, a Palestinian Olive Oil Hamper from Oliver Odyssey and goodies from businesses local to south London, such as Forza Wine. Roxana Khan Williams, founder of On This Land Events, said, “This is an opportunity to get people together to raise money for an amazing cause. Over the past year we’ve raised huge amounts of Medical Aid for Palestinians and Restless Beings and now we need your support to raise even more for the incredible work of the Gaza Sunbirds, a para-cycling team delivering aid to the community in the Gaza Strip.
“But this event isn’t just about raising money. We also want to give attendees the space to come together and bear witness to the fact that what is happening in Gaza is a series of horrific war crimes that we as citizens of the UK have been made to be unwillingly complicit in.
“By coming together in solidarity for the second year running, we hope to increase our fundraising efforts and show that our resistance to the genocide in Gaza is unequivocal”.
