Pinterest UK has teamed up with cultural curator, podcaster, designer and founder of the TTYA franchise Irene Agbontaen to today launch Black to Z – the definitive showcase of influences and ideas that kick start creativity, told through the eyes of 26 game-changing Black businesses and creators.
With the brightest and boldest minds sharing their visual inspirations alongside a word that defines their influences, the alphabet of Black creativity takes Pinners through the richness of Black-British diaspora culture and its influence on Black business and creators.
Irene Agbontaen, Cultural Curator and Creative Director, Black to Z said:
“Bringing black creators and black owned businesses to the forefront of conversations is fundamentally what made this project with Pinterest so important. For me, when launching my brand TTYA, there were very few places that I saw people like me championed + supported. Black to Z highlights these businesses, showcases them and opens them to a wider market.
Black to Z as a platform is important to empower black British business owners and incite change.”
The Black to Z features 10 businesses that took part in the Pinterest Black Gold Accelerator programme including Prick Ldn, London’s first and only cactus and succulent boutique, Mama Dolce, luxury free from ice-cream, and inclusive hosiery company Sheer Chemistry. Established creators and enterprises such as Tatted Chef, TreasureTress and Tom Moutchi also reveal their visual inspirations as part of the showcase.
With an exclusive one night-only Black to Z exhibition taking place at Noho Studios on 12th May, entrepreneur Steven Bartlett and actor Michaela Coel praising the image sharing platform’s commitment to supporting Black businesses and creators, the launch of the Black to Z reinforces Pinterest’s goal to becoming the most inclusive, social media platform across the globe.
