With 43% of Brits agreeing that a Monday run is the perfect way to kick-start the week ahead, isotonic sports drink brand, Powerade, has introduced the Blue Monday Run Club. Taking place on Monday 23rd June, the longest day of the year, this one-off event in London and Manchester is designed to help people embrace Monday runs as the ultimate moment to press pause from their busy lives and create a habit worth keeping.

The Blue Monday Run Club is a 2.5km run taking place in Media City in Manchester, and on London’s Putney Embankment, designed to encourage people to opt for a Monday run going forward. The London event will be hosted by Personal Trainer Ryan Libbey, while the Manchester event will be led by social media influencer Megan Short.

Research of 1,000 UK runners reveals that 24% find Monday the most stressful day of the week, with 28% saying it’s also their busiest. Despite this, it’s also the day that 32% feel most motivated, showing that whilst Mondays can be fuelled by pressure, they also hold untapped potential. With that in mind, the Blue Monday Run Club aims to inspire people to choose Monday as their run-day, creating a positive ritual that powers their week ahead.

It’s no secret that running is also a powerful tool when it comes to managing stress. Almost half (48%) of people say running reduces those feelings, 49% agree it boosts their mood, and 43% say it helps relieve anxiety. Running provides a pause, creating a rare window for reflection, rest and renewed focus. In fact, 43% of respondents agree that going for a run is a great way to kick-start the week

Blue Monday Run Club Ambassador Ryan Libbey says: “For me, running – whether it’s a short jog or a longer weekend run – is essential for keeping my mental health in check and in a positive frame of mind for the rest of the week. I’m really looking forward to leading the Blue Monday Run Club and hopefully inspire people to take that bit of time to set themselves up for a productive week ahead.”
