Almost everyone is affected by cancer in some way during their life, whether it be friends, family or being diagnosed. An inspiring new community film, We Dance for Life, launching online today, has brought people across Sutton together to explore what cancer means to them.
Filmed at the London Cancer Hub and across Sutton, We Dance for Life explores cancer, including scientific research and the emotions experienced during diagnosis and treatment. Featuring overing 200 local people and scientists from The Institute of Cancer Research, London (based in Sutton), We Dance for Life explores themes of community, fear and joy.
Launched on World Cancer Day, We Dance for Life marks the start of Sutton STEAMs Ahead 2023, Sutton’s year of culture. We Dance for Life was created by Ian Sciacaluga and Victor Films, with creative input from Sutton-based choreographers and musicians filmed at iconic local landmarks including:
Mayfield Lavender Fields
Manor and Beddington Parks
The Benhill Estate
Sutton High Street
We Dance for Life inspires people in Sutton and beyond to learn more about how science, technology, engineering and maths can be explored through arts. This puts the Art into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, resulting in STEAM.
