Actor Mark Harris and producer Jonathan Sothcott were in Mayfair yesterday to meet Gary Shaw, the son of bare knuckle fighting legend Roy Shaw.
Sothcott’s Hereford Films is producing a movie based on Shaw’s best-selling autobiography ‘Pretty Boy’ next year, with Harris playing the title role. Harris has previously starred in Bonded By Blood 2 and The Hatton Garden Job.
Sothcott and Harris were spotted arriving at famous Mayfair restaurant Langan’s, which was once owned by Sir Michael Caine and has been a regular hotspot on the celebrity circuit for nearly 40 years. This morning Sothcott tweeted that they had enjoyed a positive meeting with Shaw, saying “Very productive lunch @langanslondon yesterday with Roy Shaw’s son Gary, who is helping @HerefordFilms with our @prettyboy movie. Authenticity important on this one.”
Pretty Boy, which has sold over a million copies, tells the brutal story of Roy’s life, including his bare knuckle feud with Lenny McLean and has become a cult classic of the true crime genre.
Filming is expected to commence in Spring 2019 for a release later in the year.
