PRINCE Andrew has been slammed as “delusional” for considering taking legal action to overturn a multi-million pound settlement in the US over allegations of sexual abuse.
Royal expert Michael Cole told GB News: “He must be delusional if he thinks he can overturn a legal arrangement entered into freely less than a year ago in a Manhattan courtroom.
“He would have to demonstrate or prove fraud or duress or coercion, or some sort of malicious misrepresentation to a rather savvy Manhattan judge to get this overturned, so it ain’t gonna happen.
“In the words of Muhammad Ali, he’s got two chances, slim and none.
“I would bet on the second, but I do understand why he’s going down this route.”
He explained: “This lady, Virginia Roberts, now Mrs Giuffre and living in Western Australia…she was accusing people and she accused Alan Dershowitz.
“Alan Dershowitz is a very celebrated celebrity lawyer. He defended Klaus von Bulow and he defended OJ Simpson and he’s a professor of law at Harvard University and she said that she had been abused by him.
“And then she remembered, oh, no, she hadn’t. He of course denied it forcefully from the beginning.
“She also said at one stage that she’d been abused by Prince Andrew not only in London, New York and on this island in the Caribbean, but also at Jeffrey Epstein’s ranch in southwest New York.
“And then she remembered ‘no, no, it wasn’t at the ranch’. So I imagine his lawyers, who haven’t served him terribly well, nor have his PR people throughout this whole saga, are thinking that they may have some angle there to overturn this.”
In a discussion with Andrew Pierce, Mr Cole said he would have to appear in the witness box in the States if he decided to challenge the settlement.
“Civil cases are settled by the exchange of money and criminal cases. If there’s a conviction, that’s jail time.
“Now, Prince Andrew has never admitted anything. He’s never been charged with anything. For goodness sake, he’s never been convicted of anything and he says and maintains that he never ever met Virginia Roberts.”
He added: “How’d you explain that photograph? Well, Ghislaine Maxwell – says it’s a fake or she thinks it’s a fake.
“Well, there’s a lot to be gone through but if he’s going to demonstrate that this should not have been entered into [evidence] – it’s a very, very low chance for him, and I wouldn’t put any money on it.”
