Red Hill Primary School in Chislehurst has raised nearly £5000 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The charity is very close to the school community’s hearts as it is currently providing care for Olek, one of the school’s Year 1 pupils.

Each year, The Royal Marsden holds their flagship fundraising event, The Banham Marsden March, where thousands of participants walk between the two hospital sites in Chelsea and Sutton. Inspired by this wonderful event, Red Hill Primary School, which is part of The Pioneer Academy Trust, ran their own version on 16 May 2025 to give all the children the chance to get involved and show their support.

Mrs McManus, Mrs Crockatt and Mrs Marshall all completed the ice bucket challenge, while Mrs Nolan enjoyed having her make up done by a child in Year 1.

Pupils also took part in a sponsored walk around the school field and enjoyed other fun outdoor activities around the school. All the children walked 5 miles throughout the afternoon.

£3665 was donated through a JustGiving page and over £900 was raised through a cake and sweet sale held at the school.

Becci McManus, Head of School, said:

“The day was amazing – all our pupils had fantastic fun and so did the staff!

“Huge thanks to our whole school community for coming together and supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity; a wonderful cause which aims to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.”
