REFORM UK’s Head of Policy has said the party would scrap a free movement agreement for European students.
Speaking on GB News Zia Yusuf said: “Well, look, let’s look at the numbers, right? Let’s look at the situation in this country, where there are a million young people in this country who are not in employment, not in education, not in training. That’s close to all time highs.
“So now this is effectively what they’re talking about, is moving toward freedom movement for, for example, young people. Let’s define them as under 25.
“The unemployment rate for under 25 in the UK is 15%. Do you know what it is in Spain? 25%. What do you think is going to happen?
“And I’m afraid that young people have been betrayed time and time and time again by successive governments in this country.

“What we need to do is stop tossing our young people in this country onto the scrap heap and just throwing them onto benefits when they’re age 19 or 20 with no incentive to come off and basically creating a highly addictive, a crack cocaine level addiction capability of the welfare state and allow them and get them back into work.
“And yes, you know what Reform believes [is] young British people should have asymmetric access to the British labour market, and what Keir Starmer and Labour are doing is looking to engage the opposite.”
