Everyone Active is rallying the support of the local community to vote for a Wellbeing Manager who has been named a finalist in the ukactive Awards.

Nicole Fox, Contract Activity and Wellbeing Manager for Everyone Active across Westminster and North Kensington, has been shortlisted in the ‘Physical Activity Hero Award’ in recognition of her dedication to improving locals’ lives through sport and physical activity.

Nicole was nominated for the prestigious national honour by Andy Davison, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager across Westminster and Westway, with her transformative impact on the health, happiness and wellbeing of local communities leading her to be shortlisted by the industry awards committee.

“Nicole assumed the role of managing the Neighbourhood Sports Clubs (NSC) programme aged just 22 in 2016,” says Andy.

“In eight years, she has more than doubled its provision. She grew the 64 hours of free-to-access community activity delivered to disadvantaged people who live, work or study in Westminster each week to 150 hours while navigating the Covid lockdown. Her achievement is remarkable.”

As part of the NSC programme, Nicole has worked to engage and encourage those who are less mobile or face barriers in accessing physical activity.

The scheme now includes 29 groups reaching a wide spectrum of individuals including Muslim women alienated by mixed-gender activities, refugee children and those with physical and learning disabilities.

Andy adds: “Nicole engages people who are or feel unable to visit a leisure centre – due to anxiety, finances, disability or culture – and ensures no one is left behind.”

“Her ambition, energy and tenacity know no bounds. She tirelessly seeks new people to help, ensures existing groups are fulfilling the needs of those attending and oversees a team of over 100 activity providers.”

Everyone Active’s centres across Westminster City and North Kensington are managed in partnership with Westminster City Council and the Westway Trust.

The ukactive Awards celebrate the best of the physical activity sector and are designed to recognise excellence and innovation across health, wellbeing and fitness in the UK.

The winner of the Physical Activity Hero Award will be decided through a public vote on the ukactive Awards website. The voting will go live on 5 August until 30 August, with all members of the public encouraged to vote.

Winners and champions of the awards will be announced at a ceremony held at the ICC in Birmingham on Thursday, October 3.
