Reward offered to identify moped killers after “beautiful, kind” mother dies in Hammersmith hit-and-run

The charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information they receive that leads to the conviction of those responsible for the death of a much-loved mother in Hammersmith earlier this year.

Ina Rodrigues, who was 58 years old, was struck down by a moped whilst crossing the road in Hammersmith. The mother of two was making her way home after work.

The hit-and-run happened at around 6pm on Tuesday 16 January 2024 on Talgarth Road, at the junction with Gliddon Road near to Barons Court station.

Two people were on the moped at the time of the collision. CCTV caught them abandoning their moped nearby.

Ms Rodrigues was taken to hospital where she later died.

To date, no arrests have been made.

***Crimestoppers is supporting the investigation by offering up to £20,000 for information the charity exclusively receives – via its website Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111 – that leads to the conviction of anyone involved in the killing of Ina Rodrigues. The reward is available for three months and is due to expire on 9 December 2024***

Alexa Loukas, London Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “Ina’s daughters have spoken so lovingly about their ‘beautiful, kind mother’ and how heartbroken they are at losing her in such tragic and unexpected circumstances.

“I would urge people to please take a few moments to view the CCTV footage online, which clearly shows the men abandoning the motorbike and whilst they are wearing crash helmets, there may be something distinctive that you recognise.

“We know it can be difficult for some people to speak directly to the police which is why our charity is here for you. We’ve been passing on information about crime whilst guaranteeing anonymity since we were established decades ago. It’s a promise we’ve always kept.

“Crimestoppers is independent. Whilst we work with law enforcement by passing on what we’re told, we are independent of the police. With our charity you’ll stay 100% anonymous – that means no police, no courts, no witness statements. A family is grieving the loss of a loved one. Your information could be crucial in helping prevent further tragedies and in securing justice for Ina, and her devastated family and friends.”

***Note: Information passed directly to the police will not qualify for a reward***

Anonymity: Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity, meaning that people who call or contact them online can pass on what they know without ever giving any personal details. Computer IP addresses are never traced. Telephone calls are never recorded, there is no caller line display and no 1471 facility.

Claiming a reward: The reward will only be payable for information passed directly to Crimestoppers and not to the police. A reward code must be asked for when calling the charity on 0800 555 111. If you contact Crimestoppers via the online form anonymously, the ‘keeping in contact’ facility must be used and a reward code must be requested on your initial contact with the charity.

More details about the rewards process – at the heart of which is ensuring you stay 100% anonymous – can be found on the Crimestoppers website.
