FESTIVE shoppers and customers joined in the 20-year birthday celebrations and festivities at Specsavers Richmond upon Thames, located at 18 The Quadrant.
To mark this significant milestone, the directors invited VIP guests, including PR Ambassador from the Guide Dogs, Charlotte Singer, with her six-and-a-half-month-old labrador puppy, Bloom.

During the day, the team and customers joined in fundraising for the Guide Dogs charity to help raise awareness and vital funds towards the selection and training of further dogs, who offer a lifeline for their owners and families.

Specsavers Richmond, which is locally owned and run by Lee Penfold, retail director, Jayesh Solankey, ophthalmic director, and Gurleen Brar, audiology director, offer customers a combined 60 years of expertise in optics, audiology and retail management.

Lee Penfold, a partner in the practice for over since 2004, says: ‘We’re thrilled to welcome our VIP guests, including Charlotte and Bloom to join in our celebrations today.

‘Richmond has seen a lot of change in the High Street over the last 20 years, and so has the world of retail, especially optics and audiology. We’re very proud of our team and the hard work and dedication they offer to our customers in delivering the very best service to the Richmond community, many of whom have been our customers since we first opened in 2004.’

During the course of the day’s celebrations customers received Festive Goody Bags, special 20-year discount vouchers, birthday cake and treats.

The 20th anniversary celebrations recognised the hard work and dedication of the store directors and team, and their delivery of excellent customer care across the Richmond upon Thames community in becoming a trusted beacon of healthcare provision.

Jayesh Solankey commented: ‘We’re delighted to be celebrating this key anniversary today with our guests and customers.

‘We’re very proud of our team and the high standard of clinical care and customer service they deliver daily.

‘We also offer local residents a minor eye care service, which includes cataract and glaucoma clinics, plus the management of red eyes and dry eyes, flashers and floaters, with local GPs referring patients to us which helps ease the pressure on the NHS.’

The store offers customers access to the very latest diagnostic testing equipment, including a visual fields analyser and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) examination. The OCT, which is hospital grade advanced diagnostic, eye-scanning equipment, helps detect serious eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, up to four years earlier than traditional methods, and is currently on offer at the reduced price of just £5.

During an eye test, Specsavers’ optometrists will assess your vision as well as check the overall health of your eyes, so it’s important to have regular eye tests, even if you aren’t experiencing any eye issues or symptoms.

The dedicated audiology centre offers a soundproof booth for customers to have their hearing tested, coupled with the latest micro-suction equipment for wax removal.
In addition, there are six test rooms and specific contact lens stations offering enhanced facilities to customers. The store carries out 300 tests each, with daily clinics available. Opening times are Monday to Saturday, 9.00am to 6.00pm and on Sunday,11am – 5.00pm.

As part of Specsavers’ mission to make eye health accessible to all, Specsavers also offers a Home Visits service to those that can’t leave their homes unaccompanied due to disability or illness. Specsavers Home Visits service covers more than 90% of the UK.
