UWL Acting alumnus Charlie Mann is currently filming US crime drama-thriller ‘Power: Origins’, the fourth spin-off of critically acclaimed ‘Power’ produced by Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson.

‘Power’ tells the story of drug dealers and night club owners James St. Patrick, known as “Ghost” and criminal partner and best friend Tommy Egan. Power: Origins will focus on the two characters’ early lives and Charlie will play Tommy.

When asked what he gained from studying at UWL’s London College of Music (LCM) he says:

“When I first came onto the course I felt like I was competing against everyone in the room to be the best. I was looking for people’s approval. As well as a lot of techniques and skills, I learned resilience and to trust myself rather than look for validation from others.”

After graduating with a BA (Hons) Acting from LCM in 2022, Charlie says that every job he’s done since has progressively got bigger and he’s learnt so much from each of them about different techniques and working in the industry.

He has had roles in supernatural horror film ‘The Watchers’, British crime thriller ‘Virdee’, the Amazon Prime horror-thriller ‘Lazarus’, horror film ‘Primate’ and BBC TV series ‘Crookhaven’.

Charlie says that he got a lot of these jobs because of good word of mouth.

When asked what advice he’d give to current acting students and those just starting in the industry he says:

“Every job, no matter how small it is, give it your all. Turn up on time, be polite, and have a bit about you. And people will remember you and want to work with you again.”

“All I’ve ever wanted to do was this and you need that same passion. I think the most important thing is to find that inner child again. People can feel when you’re enjoying yourself on screen and it translates.”

Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts at LCM Alex Loveless says:

“We are very proud of Charlie and his achievements which are a shining example of all that is possible for someone dedicated to their craft and an inspiration for our current students. We wish him every success with all his exciting projects!”
