Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) is to take the tournament’s values and the core principles of sport into the classroom as a powerful educational tool for primary school children across England. As one of the hosts for RLWC2021, schools across London are being encouraged to download this brand-new classroom resource ahead of children returning to school in September.
RLWC2021 has put impactful legacy projects as one of the central objectives of a tournament which promises to engage with and inspire communities to use the power of sport as a force to effect a positive change.
Already branded as the biggest and best ever Rugby League World Cup in history, the launch of the RLWC2021 Education Programme will not only educate but also motivate the next generation of rugby league fans.
Designed by teachers for teachers, the classroom resources will allow educators to devise and deliver themed lessons which capture the cultural and geographical scope of this unique tournament, featuring men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions simultaneously.
The schools signed up to the education resources will also have access to ticket offers and competitions to win exciting World Cup prizes including trophy visits, ambassador visits, World Cup memorabilia and much more.
The engaging curriculum-linked resources will be available across the country to download from today as teachers plan for the return of schools in September. As a global tournament, the resources harness the excitement for RLWC2021 as well as reflect the cultural diversity of the tournament and celebrate the heritage of the sport.

RLWC2021 will work with One Community Trust to deliver this ambitious project, which could touch the lives of thousands of children and Gary Cunningham, CEO, One Community Trust, said: “We were honoured to be given the opportunity to create the educational resources for Rugby League World Cup 2021. Warrington based Oakwood Avenue Primary School, Gorse Covert Primary School, Woolston Community Primary School and Croft Primary School worked with RLWC2021 organisers to create the unique resources.

‘They are underpinned by the four values of being bold and brave, authentic, world class and inclusive. We are proud of the work our teachers have done to create unprecedented resources during unprecedented times. We hope educators enjoy using them as much as we did in creating them.”
