Royal Greenwich’s highest achieving young people have been honoured at the Council’s second Great in Greenwich Awards ceremony, held yesterday evening (Monday 9 September).
Schools were invited to nominate students to recognise their achievements in GCSEs, A Levels and BTecs, to attend a special ceremony hosted inside Woolwich Town Hall’s historic Victoria Hall.
Teachers and families proudly watched on as students were awarded certificates which recognised their incredible achievements.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “All of the weeks, months and years of dedication and hard work have paid off for our students – they have achieved truly remarkable things that I am so proud to celebrate.
“A huge thank you to all our school leaders and staff who have supported students with their studies and their wellbeing, to help them achieve these incredible results.”
Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, added: “We are immensely proud of all our students and these awards are a testament to their years of hard work and dedication.
“I’m in no doubt that the class of 2024 is going to do wonderful things – whether they want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a chef or an artist. They’re proof that a great future starts in Royal Greenwich.”
Applications are now open for your child to attend a secondary school in the borough and to be great in Greenwich. Applications close on 31 October 2024.
