Wimbledon Guild are delighted to be the chosen charity for this year’s Royal Wimbledon Charity Golf Day on Thursday 11th July.
Wimbledon Guild is a community charity in Merton offering practical help and support, so no one in Merton ever has to face life’s challenges alone.
With team competitions and prizes, breakfast, lunch and an auction, the golf day will be a fantastic day out and an opportunity for up to 80 golfers to play one of the most prestigious courses in Surrey.
Non-golfers can enjoy the wonderful surroundings Royal Wimbledon provides by attending the drinks reception and lunch.
The golf day will raise much needed funds to help Wimbledon Guild buy a ULEZ compliant wheelchair accessible multi-purpose vehicle.
The charity’s current second-hand diesel vehicle was donated over 12 years ago. Maintenance and running costs have increased substantially as well as frequent unscheduled repairs which disrupt services.
Wendy Pridmore, Wimbledon Guild Chief Executive, says: “Our current people carrier is essential to the day-to-day services we provide. It’s a familiar sight around the borough taking people to and from activities at both our Wimbledon and Morden bases, as well as collecting and delivering supplies to our partners and other organisations.”
Robert Brewer, Royal Wimbledon Golf Club General Manager, says: “We are delighted to be working with Wimbledon Guild, an important local charity which provides vital support to so many in our community.”
The golf day is launching with a special early bird price – the price for players and teams who book before the end of February is £125 per individual and £500 for a team of 4 players.
From March the price will increase to £150 per player and £600 per team.
