The RSPCA is appealing for information after a person was reportedly seen striking and roughly handling a dog near a canal in the E17 area of east London.
The charity has been told the incident occurred at around 2.50pm on Monday 29 December. Onlookers report that a dog was struck several times, before being roughly handled and dragged along the towpath, alongside a second dog.
The RSPCA has released images of a man it would like to speak to who was in the area at the time, as he may have information relevant to the incident to support enquiries.
RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Saul Bale said: “This incident sounds very distressing and we are keen to establish what happened.
“We understand the dog may have been roughly handled and we are really concerned about their welfare.
“We would urge anyone who has any information about the incident, whether they were in the area at the time, or has information about the dogs, to contact us as they may be able to support our enquiries.”
