The RSPCA is investigating the death of a cat who was found hanged by a dog lead in the garden of a home in Tottenham.
Sadly, the black cat with white patches and believed to to be male, was dead when a resident was alerted to the grisly discovery after her dog had started barking at the fence where the body of the feline was situated in Gospatrick Road at 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 20.
The woman contacted the RSPCA and Inspector Jaqueline Schultz was sent to investigate and is keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around that time or the day before.
She is also keen to hear from anyone who may have ring doorbell footage which may help identify the person responsible.
Inspector Schultz said: “This is truly a horrible incident of animal cruelty. The cat’s body was found hanging by a lead on the fence from the neighbouring garden near an alleyway.
“It really beggars belief why someone would commit an act as cruel and sickening as this. There does not appear to be any CCTV cameras covering this location, so we would urge anyone with any information to get in touch as I am keen to find the person responsible.”
The cat wasn’t microchipped, but the inspector believes the cat has been owned as it appeared in good health.
The Inspector took the body away and has now put ‘Found’ posters in the area to try and trace the owner..
The cat was mostly black on its body, with white whiskers, a white left back foot, white front toes, white belly, throat and chin. His left upper lip was white and his right upper lip black.
Anyone with any information about the incident, the cat or his owners can ring the RSPCA appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
