The RSPCA has launched an urgent appeal to help find the kittens belonging to a cat who was found badly injured in a London street.
The poor black and white female cat was found on Raglan Road, E17, Walthamstow and she was taken by the RSPCA to its London hospital where x-rays revealed she has multiple injuries and fractures on her body. She has been made comfortable and given pain relief.
However it is clear the young mum has recently had kittens as she is lactating and the RSPCA are keen to find the owner of the mum and to reunite her with her kittens – as there are fears they will not survive without her.
Animal Rescue Officer Neil Coleman said: “The cat is recovering in our hospital and she will be given all the treatment that she requires – but we are extremely worried for her kittens. She is lactating and the vets think she would probably have given birth within the last week. It is very unlikely that at this age the kittens will survive without their mum’s milk.
“This is why we are appealing to find the owner of this cat, who we believe is around two years old, and so we can hopefully reunite mum with her kittens while she is in our care.
“The mum cat was not microchipped and we have carried out enquiries in the local area – but if anyone recognises her, or knows who her owner is or knows of someone in the area whose cat has recently had kittens we would urge them to get in touch with us in confidence on the RSPCA Inspector Appeal Line 0300 123 8018 – quoting incident 01157073.”
