UK Power Networks staff helped ensure safety for TV crew and volunteers working on the hit BBC TV show DIY: SOS.

Aired on Friday (October 24th), the episode showed a family from Grove Park having their home renovated after a tragedy led by presenter Nick Knowles.

UK Power Networks engineers replaced the electrical equipment that connects their electricity meter to the mains, installed a new meter board and provided a new earth cable.

Michelle Le-Grys, General Enquiries and Smart Metering manager at UK Power Networks, took part and said:“Supporting DIY:SOS was an incredibly rewarding experience for our team. We were delighted to help make the home a better place for the family to live in
by upgrading the electrical equipment.

“Our engineers also went the extra mile by upgrading the house’s meter tails to the correct specification, so the rest of the renovation could go ahead without delay. The sense of teamwork on site was inspiring, everyone was eager to lend a hand and make a
real difference. We are proud to have played our part in such a meaningful transformation for a family in need.”

Jointer’s mate and craft attendant, James Holland said: “Being part of the build is something I’ll never forget. As a cable jointer’s mate, you’re used to working behind the scenes, but this was a bit different. It was about giving a family a fresh start, and
I’m proud to have played a small part in that.”
