Second Greenwich Apprenticeship Summit to showcase opportunities for residents and for employers

To mark National Apprenticeship Week (10 – 16 February) the Royal Borough of Greenwich is holding its second Greenwich Apprenticeship Summit at Woolwich Works on Tuesday 11 February.

Following the success of the inaugural event last year, the Apprenticeship Summit is dedicated to celebrating the huge array of benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals and employers. Organised in partnership with London SouthEast Colleges, University of Greenwich and Visit Greenwich, the event promotes apprenticeship opportunities available in the borough and beyond.

Students, graduates and those looking to gain qualifications are invited to attend the apprenticeship market stalls from 12noon to 2pm. The market is open to everyone and is an exciting opportunity to connect with training providers and employers such as Peabody, Department of Work and Pensions, The Army and Oxleas NHS Trust.

Aspiring apprentices can explore various career paths and find the right apprenticeship for them based on their individual skills, interests, and career goals. It is the chance to discover what apprenticeships offer, how to apply for them and what prosects are available afterwards.

Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Skills and Greenwich Supports said: “Ensuring that everyone can secure a good job and reach their full potential is a key priority for the Council and this year we are delighted to support National Apprenticeship Week with our second Greenwich Apprenticeship Summit.

“Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to earn and learn at the same time. Anyone over the age of 16 and not already in full-time education can become an apprentice – there’s no upper age limit. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to upskill or kickstart your career. Across London, two-thirds of apprenticeships were taken up by existing staff and nearly 63% of new hires were under-25.

“Join us on 11 February to find out how an apprenticeship can give you the skills to get the job you want.”
