The Royal Borough of Greenwich is asking families, young people, and local partners to help shape the future of family support in the borough.
The Government’s proposed Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill could mean major changes to the way councils, schools, and support services work with families. The national plans are designed to give families more of a say, keep children safer, and make sure schools and services work more closely together.
Locally, this means our Families First programme will need to change and we want to make sure those changes reflect the voices and needs of people across Royal Greenwich.
We are launching an online survey so that families, young people, and local organisations who work in our borough can tell us what matters most. This will help us design support that works better for everyone.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “We know that families are the experts in their own lives. These proposed changes give us an important chance to listen and build services that put children and families at the heart of decision-making.
“We want to hear from parents, carers, young people, schools and community partners so that together we can shape a programme that truly supports Greenwich families ensuring young people are able to reach their full potential”
The consultation has three short surveys; each designed for different groups:
Parents and carers, so they can share what support works well for their family, what could be better, and where they’d like to access services.
Staff and partners so they can tell us how we can build stronger, joined-up support with families at the centre.
Children and young people so they can give their views on what helps, what should change, and how they want to be involved in decisions about them.
We need your voice to help us shape how we make changes locally.
Take our online survey to share your views before Monday 13 October: royalgreenwich.gov.uk/shape-families-first
