Yesterday, Tuesday 7 June at 4pm, surprise performances from multi-award winning musicals Dear Evan Hansen and SIX took place from the rooftops of Canada House and The National Gallery overlooking Trafalgar Square.
The performances from the rooftops today saw lead actors from Olivier Award winning Dear Evan Hansen Sam Tutty and Lucy Anderson performing from the roof of Canada House, visible from Trafalgar Square, while the fourth and final performance from SIX the Musical, saw all six lead actresses performing from the rooftop of the National Gallery, the first time a performance has ever taken place there.
The line-up of Queens who performed is: Paisley Billings as Aragon, Amanda Lindgren as Boleyn, Claudia Kariuki as Seymour, Dionne Ward-Anderson as Cleves, Esme Rothero as Howard and Meesha Turner as Parr.
‘Sing it from the Rooftops’, is a teaser campaign for West End LIVE, announcing the return of Europe’s biggest free musical theatre festival taking place on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June 2022.
The performance today was the finale of the pop-up ‘Sing it from the Rooftops’ series to surprise and delight visitors to London’s West End throughout May & June, making theatre, arts and culture accessible to everyone in Westminster. Showing that London is open to people of all backgrounds, both residents and visitors, who want to experience the very best of the West End – from the city’s unparalleled culture scene to food, drink, fashion, nightlife, retail and more.
As excitement builds for West End LIVE, visitors to central London in the next couple of weeks who happen to look up might catch one of a series of surprise, pop-up performances by West End shows on iconic London rooftops, an opportunity to get a feel for things to come from one of Europe’s most spectacular outdoor theatre events.
