The Natural History Museum has today announced a brand-new immersive experience, Our Story with David Attenborough, opening to audiences on 19 June 2025.

A first-of-its-kind offering for the Museum, join master storyteller David Attenborough as he poignantly draws on nearly a century of experience to document the saga of our incredible species. Located in the Museum’s Jerwood Gallery, audiences will be captivated by a combination of state-of-the-art cinematic projection technology and beautiful real-life footage of our natural world that will bring the gallery walls and floor to life.

Sir David said: “Humanity is the most influential species on Earth. We depend entirely on this magnificent planet, yet its future is in our hands. My hope is that visitors of all ages will experience our extraordinary journey at the Natural History Museum and come away feeling inspired, informed and most of all, empowered about their integral role in our world. This is our story and we can all play a significant role.”

Beginning at the very start of planet Earth over 4 billion years ago, witness the compelling and captivating tale of humankind’s story like never before as Sir David documents our earliest beginnings and how we evolved and came to change the world around us. From our impact on the great whales of the oceans to our relationship with one of our closest relatives, the gorillas, Sir David reflects on the good and the bad he has witnessed throughout his career and shares both his hopes for our planet and his belief that we can solve anything we put our minds to.

The 50-minute 360° immersive experience has been created in collaboration between Sir David and Open Planet Studios, an award-winning production team specialising in groundbreaking content to enact positive change for our world.

Dr Doug Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum, said: “Our Jerwood Gallery has played host to some of our most unique experiences. Our Story with David Attenborough will certainly be one of its most special, as the Gallery will be transformed into an immersive escape where the story of our species will come to life around us. Our mission has always been to create advocates for the planet, and we’re honoured that Sir David and Open Planet Studios will be helping us achieve this with this captivating exploration into humanity’s past and future.”

Jonnie Hughes, Co-Founder and Director of Open Planet Studios, said: “We have had the pleasure of working with Sir David on a host of projects over the years. He is always eager to investigate new ways of telling stories. Hence, it was no surprise to us that he jumped at the chance to work on this 360° immersive experience. By surrounding the audience with wonderful imagery, music and sound, we can take them anywhere and to any time, from the very birth of life at the bottom of the ocean on the ancient Earth, to a rainforest clearing populated by a family of gorillas, to the near future, when we have all played a part in building a better, more stable world. The Jerwood Gallery at the Museum is the best location we could have imagined for this experience to exist – it is the perfect partner to the new Fixing Our Broken Planet gallery next door.”

General tickets will be on sale from 22 May, with adult prices starting from £20. Sessions will be available through January 2026. An added benefit for Museum members, alongside anytime entry to the Museum, access to the exclusive members’ Anning Rooms and discounts in the shop, those with a membership will be able to secure priority tickets to the special new show before anyone else from 20 May at a 50% discount.

The new experience adds to a diverse roster of new offerings from the Museum, following the opening of Fixing Our Broken Planet earlier this month, its first new permanent gallery in nearly a decade, as well as the imminent arrival of its headline exhibition, Space: Could Life Exist Beyond Earth?, on 16 May. Programming in the Jerwood Gallery is supported by Jerwood Foundation.
