Pizza fans across the capital can rejoice as the great love story between New York and Naples pizzerias – Slice by Pizza Pilgrims – will arrive in Finsbury Park on Wednesday 25th August.
The new joint will be Pizza Pilgrims’ first permanent site following a successful pop-up on London’s Southbank. Housed in an unmistakable late-night downtown setting, Co-founders Thom & James Elliot have constructed a menu that will stand apart from existing sites, taking inspiration from their sights of the slice joints and dive bars of New York City.
The 50-cover restaurant will serve their signature Pizza Al Metro – long rectangular pizza perfect for cutting super-sized triangle slices. Tying in with the local neighbourhood feel, the metro pizza style pays homage to Neapolitan families who serve it up at events and tuck into it ahead of Italian match days. At Finsbury Park, pizza fans can take their pick of classics such as Margherita, or opt for a metre long grissini with parma ham and pesto. Or new flavours exclusive to Slice featuring Penne Alla Vodka slice: the pasta slice! Further new additions include the revamped Hawaii Not – honey glazed pineapple, nduja and jalapenos. Halal and gluten free options will also be available.
Diners will also have a chance to challenge themselves with classic 80s arcade games such as Pac Man & Street Fighter (high scores awarded with slices) alongside a carefully curated drinks offering of cans of Amalfi Lemon and Peach ice-tea slushies (made alcoholic for those who fancy it), as well as an extensive beer and wine list, perfect for late evening drinking.
As part of the soft launch, on Monday 23rd August, Pizza Pilgrims will be giving away 1000 free slices of pizza – served up at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm. Head over to slicebypizzapilgrims.co.uk to sign up!
All staff at Pizza Pilgrims Finsbury Park are fully crossed-trained across every role in the Pizzeria – both service and kitchen. This ensures the site has a totally fluid team where each individual has exposure to different areas of the business to develop their personal skillset and experience.
Pizza Pilgrims Co-Founder James Elliot says: “We’re excited to finally set some roots and launch our first permanent site of Slice by Pizza Pilgrims. Slice is the great love story between New York and Naples pizzerias and we felt this site in Finsbury Park is the perfect community driven spot for both locals and Londoners looking for a casual spot to enjoy a slice, grab a cold beer and have a bit of fun with friends in an NYC inspired setting.”
