Westfield London is giving Christmas gifting an unexpected twist with the arrival of ‘Wrapping Rappers’ – a playful new experience where rap meets ribbon and festive stories are turned into live freestyle performances.
Across two December evenings, shoppers can hand over their purchases and watch as performers wrap each item while creating personalised verses inspired by the gifts, the recipients and all things seasonal.
The series launches on Tuesday 9th December from 6pm to 8pm with an unmissable performance from Harvey of So Solid Crew, who will take to the ‘gift-rap’ station with a set spanning crowd favourites including the iconic “21 Seconds”, alongside new material. He’ll be joined by Twin MCs, the former So Solid members who won over viewers on last year’s series of The Voice.
After the performance, Harvey will turn customer anecdotes into freestyle lines as he wraps presents in Westfield-exclusive paper, creating a unique festive moment for each shopper.
The experience transforms a festive chore into live entertainment, making Westfield London the ideal place to shop, wrap and celebrate the season.
A second event follows on 18th December from 7pm to 8pm, when Masters of Ceremonies – the group behind the UK garage classic “Do You Really Like It?” and formed by DJ Pied Piper, Unknown MC, Sharky P and DT – take to the mic. Rising artist and local Londoner Young Athena will close the evening with her latest singles and signature stage presence. With more than a hundred live shows including the BRIT Awards Afterparty at the O2, London Fashion Week and the UEFA Champions Festival, Athena has proven she will bring serious energy to the performance.
Harvey said: “Family and music are two of the things I love most, and Westfield is the perfect place to bring them together. As the first Wrapping Rapper I get to perform, the kids can enjoy themselves and my wife can get her Christmas shopping done all in one go. I’ll be helping with the wrapping too, although I can’t promise it will qualify as fine art!”
