A mum-of-two is among the hundreds of people who will be remembered with a colourful ribbon in the tranquil gardens of St Christopher’s Hospice next month.
Hundreds of ribbons will adorn the hospice’s trees as bereaved people come together to remember their loved ones.
The community are invited to hang their ribbons on the tree at the hospice’s two sites in July. The events will take place at the Caritas House site in Orpington on 10 July and at the Sydenham site on 11 July.
The ribbons will have the names of those they are dedicated to written on them.
Anyone wishing to dedicate a ribbon can do so online at www.stchristophers.org.uk/rememberingwithribbons or by phoning the hospice fundraising team on 020 8768 4575.
Those dedicating are invited to donate to the hospice for the ribbon to allow St Christopher’s to keep caring for those at the end of life, and their loved ones, into the future.
Tricia Ellis will be remembering her daughter, mum-of-two Veronica ‘Vee’ Stylianou with a ribbon.
Vee died aged just 45 at St Christopher’s in March 2023, leaving behind a husband, Alex, and two young sons George and Leo.
“They were her precious boys,” Tricia says. “She would have so loved to be around for longer to see them grow up – to see what they would become,” she adds.
“She was a very sociable person and had so many friends. Vee brought everyone together with her loving and exceptionally caring nature.”
Christine Davies, Head of Fundraising at St Christopher’s Hospice, said: “Our colourful and vibrant Remembering with Ribbons events is always so heart warming as hundreds of people from across South London come into our beautiful gardens to celebrate loved ones who have died.”
“By remembering your loved one you are also supporting the hospice and helping us to provide care for someone else and their family and friends at the end of life.”
