Southborough Primary School’s Headteacher, Melody Berthoud, is delighted to have been recognised nationally with a certificate of excellence for the Pearson National Teaching Awards’ Headteacher of the Year Award.

The Pearson National Teaching Awards celebrate the impact of educators and teaching communities across the UK. Melody is one of 12 certificate winners for the Headteacher of the Year Award, having been nominated by Samuel Turner, Nurture Lead at Southborough Primary School, in recognition of her outstanding leadership.

Among many achievements referenced in the nomination, Samuel highlighted that Melody has worked tirelessly to create an environment where both staff and students feel valued and empowered. Samuel also noted that one of Melody’s first successes was the establishment of a new and fully functioning nurture provision, which provides vital support for children with additional needs.

Southborough Primary School in Bromley is part of The Pioneer Academy. The school’s vision is ‘Knowledge Through Nurture’, reflecting their commitment to ensuring that all the children in their care are nurtured and, because of this, able to learn well.

Melody Berthoud, Headteacher at Southborough Primary School, said:

“I am delighted to have received this certificate of excellence for the Headteacher of the Year Award!

“I am so grateful, so humbled, and so proud to be part of such an incredible community.

“Thank you to the amazing team and of course our wonderful pupils and families.”
