Residents at Southgate Beaumont care home in Southgate were treated to a mesmerizing ballet performance from The London’s Children’s Ballet. With their newly adapted version of Cinderella A Jazz Age, young dancers brought their talent, passion and elegance along with beautiful sparkling costumes.
These special occasions allow our residents to experience the excitement of live theatre from the comfort of their own home, and appreciate the artistry, technique and dedication that define Ballet.
The history of ballet dates back to the 15th century in Italy and France, the dance was often performed by noblemen and women in the royal courts and was known as ballet de cour. In the 19th century, ballet gradually evolved to the classical techniques we know today and it was during this period that famous ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker were created.
General Manager, Beatrice Godfrey said: “We are so grateful to have the privilege of these visits from the London Children’s Ballet. It’s moments like these that reminds us of the importance of community, connection and creating lasting memories for our residents.”
Rosemary, resident at the home said: “I am so glad I came to watch the performance today and support the children. It was absolutely magical to watch their raw talent, energy and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see them enjoying themselves. They had a great audience.”
Each year, the London Children’s Ballet adapts a favourite children’s story and develops an original scenario full of humour, drama and excitement to engage their audience. It also allows children the valuable opportunity of connecting with the older generation.
