Sparks raised the roof last night (Thursday 17th October) by receiving the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the AIM Independent Awards held at London’s Roundhouse.

Accepting the honour to a rapturous reception and standing ovation, the pioneering duo took to the podium to celebrate an illustrious five-decade, 27-album career – delivering a speech that also dropped the surprise news that they have rejoined the independent community by signing a new deal to revered label, Transgressive Records.

An as yet untitled new studio album, the band’s 28th, is expected in 2025, to be released worldwide on Transgressive and distributed via Firebird Label Services.

Sparks recently hit the news wires with the revelation that a partnership with the legendary film director John Woo is also in the works for a new film project. Further details are anticipated in 2025 along with news of a world tour.

Constantly evolving and innovating, Ron and Russell Mael are evidently in no mode to slow down, finding new audiences and disciplines with every release and project, setting the tone for multiple generations of artists and musicians.
