The team at Specsavers in Bexleyheath are preparing to mark World Hearing Day by hosting an all-day fundraiser in support of The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID).
The annual awareness-raising day, held annually on 3 March by the World Health Organization, promotes hearing loss prevention and access to hearing care worldwide.[1]
To mark the occasion, the Bexleyheath store will host a “guess the number of hearing device batteries” competition, giving visitors the chance to win a prize, with all proceeds donated to RNID.
Wouter De Wit, Retail Director at Specsavers Bexleyheath, says: ‘We’re proud to be supporting such an important cause.
‘Hearing loss affects millions of people, so World Hearing Day is a great opportunity to raise awareness locally while helping fund vital support through RNID. We look forward to welcoming the community into the store.’
RNID supports the 18 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. Around one in three adults are affected, and RNID works to improve inclusion, provide support services, and fund world-class research.[2]
Joe Ford, audiologist at the store, adds: ‘World Hearing Day highlights the importance of protecting our hearing and reducing exposure to loud noise to help prevent avoidable hearing loss.
‘Many people wait years before seeking support, but early hearing assessments and timely intervention are key to maintaining long-term hearing and overall health.’
Specsavers Bexleyheath’s specialist audiology team offers a range of hearing services, including hearing checks, hearing device sales, and repairs. They are also available to provide general guidance and support to the community on hearing health.
Residents can visit the store on 3 March to support the fundraiser and learn more about hearing care. For further information, contact Specsavers Bexleyheath at:
