MORNING shoppers visiting Ealing Broadway enjoyed the upbeat rhythms of the True Steel Band as part of an optician’s special anniversary celebrations.
The party atmosphere was thanks to the directors at Specsavers Ealing Broadway, a locally owned and run business, which was marking three decades of bringing high-quality eye and hearing care to locals.
At the celebratory day, store director Kam Gohil greeted the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, and Dame Mary Perkins, Specsavers co-founder.
Following a business investment of £70,000 and store facelift, Dame Mary cut the green ribbon to officially re-launch the newly updated Specsavers Ealing Broadway.
Showcasing its latest stylised, back-lit units and wall mounts, the store boasts a range of over 1,050 frames, including value-led frames starting at just £15, to designer brands such as Marc Jacobs, Elton John Eyewear and Vivienne Westwood.
Kam Gohil, Specsavers Ealing Broadway ophthalmic director, says: ‘We’re delighted the Mayor and Dame Mary have joined us today as this marks a pinnacle in my career with Specsavers.
‘During the last 30 years it’s been amazing to be part of the close-knit Ealing community. I’m very grateful for the continued loyalty and support of our customers who have contributed to our success and growth over this time.
‘As a team we’re committed to delivering outstanding clinical care and customer service. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming our existing customers, and new ones into our newly updated store.’
Neina Vadher, retail director for the last 18 years, comments: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Dame Mary and the Mayor of Ealing to our store today to celebrate such a key milestone. We’re very much looking forward to delivering care in the community for many more years to come.’
Specsavers Ealing Broadway offers customers access to state-of-the-art pre-room testing diagnostic equipment, including a visual fields analyser and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) examination. The OCT, which is hospital grade advanced diagnostic, eye-scanning equipment, helps detect serious eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, up to four years earlier than traditional methods, and costs just an additional £5.
The added benefit of the scan is that each customer’s OCT images can be stored, with any changes being observed over time – a real benefit to the monitoring of someone’s overall eye health.
Specsavers Ealing Broadway also offers Minor Eye Care Services (MECS), including cataract pre- and post-assessments and suspected glaucoma monitoring clinics, with some of the clinical team providing enhanced services in eye care to customers such as the management of red eyes and dry eyes, flashers and floaters.
The store has a dedicated audiology centre, which offers a soundproof booth for customers to have their hearing checked, coupled with the latest micro-suction equipment for wax removal.
Specsavers Ealing Broadway is open seven days a week. It has six test rooms, dedicated diagnostic testing areas and specific contact lens stations offering enhanced facilities to customers. The store operates 32 sight clinics a week, with daily audiology clinics.
