Commenting on the day, Francois Minnaar, the store’s retail director, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be open and celebrating with Dame Mary and the Mayor of Barnet, plus our guests who were able to come along today.

‘We really value their support, plus that of our customers, many of whom are long standing and have been visiting our practice for the last 20 years. As a result of the move, our clinic availability has doubled, and we have the very latest hospital-grade diagnostic testing equipment.’

‘We have a very cosmopolitan team who speak many European languages, plus Hindi, Gujrati and Romanian.’

Following the store opening, The Mayor and Dame Mary Perkins were given a tour of the store, which sports the very latest, stylised new frame displays, in-store lighting and iconic wall mounts, plus hospital grade, diagnostic testing equipment, including audiology testing. They then mingled with guests and members of the Specsavers Greater London team.

‘We’re very excited to welcome our customers to our new state-of-the-art store. It’s our aim to continue to offer our expertise and clinical care to the community for many more years to come.’

The team at Specsavers Edgware Town offer Barnet residents minor eye care services including cataract and glaucoma clinics. With some of the clinical team, including Rakesh Kapoor, optometrist director providing enhanced services in eye care to patients.

Customers visiting the store can benefit from hospital-grade pre-room testing diagnostic equipment, including an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and visual fields analyser. The OCT 3D scan, is advanced diagnostic, eye-scanning equipment that helps detect serious eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, up to four years earlier than traditional methods and is currently on offer at the reduced price of just £5.

Store opening times are Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 6.30pm, and Sunday from 9am until 6pm. The practice and clinics are at ground level with nearby disabled bays to offer eye care for all.

During an eye test, Specsavers’ optometrists will assess your vision as well as check the overall health of your eyes, so it’s important to have regular eye tests, even if you aren’t experiencing any eye issues or symptoms.
