SPECSAVERS Greenford has enhanced its optical and hearing services following a £300,000 investment.
The locally owned and run Specsavers Greenford store has been part of the community for over 23 years, representing a beacon of healthcare provision on the high street. Its significant facelift brings more life-enhancing technology to customers, including a stylish and streamlined shopping experience.
Shoppers at The Broadway were invited to join in the store-opening celebrations as UK based dhol artists from Imperial Drummers performed a musical medley of traditional Punjabi dhol to welcome the Mayor of Ealing, Cllr Anthony Kelly.
Welcoming Cllr Kelly were store partners Padmarekha Halubai, Shaan Patel and Atul Ladwa. On arrival, the Mayor was given a tour and introduced to guests including Louise Halvey, an ambassador for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity, and her hearing dog, Flora.
Ophthalmic director Shaan Patel says: ‘We’re delighted to welcome the Mayor of Ealing, Louise and Flora as they join us in celebrating our recent store refit. This marks a key milestone in enhancing our provision of optical and hearcare services and serving the Greenford community since 2003.’
Padmarekha Halubai, retail director, adds: ‘Today marks a highlight for us, as following the store investment programme, we can now offer customers the very latest diagnostic technology and computerised testing services, plus two additional clinics. We’re thrilled that the Mayor, Louise and Flora can share this special day with us.’
During the course of the event, customers enjoyed the musical vibes of the dhol drummers and received goodies and treats.
Louise chatted to customers about the services offered by the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity, which trains puppies to alert people who are deaf to important daily and life-saving sounds.
Customers of Specsavers Greenford can benefit from state-of-the-art equipment, including OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography). The technology allows optometrists to take a 3D image of the back of the eye to help spot serious eye conditions, including glaucoma, up to four years earlier than traditional methods. The OCT costs an additional £10.
A dedicated audiology centre offers a soundproof booth for customers to have their hearing checked, coupled with the latest micro-suction equipment for wax removal.
As part of the community healthcare offering, Specsavers Greenford also offers Minor Eye Care Services (MECS) to treat conditions such as dry eyes, red eyes, flashers and floaters.
Specsavers Greenford has dedicated diagnostic testing areas and specific contact lens stations offering enhanced facilities to customers. The store operates 18 sight clinics a week, plus audiology. There is wheelchair accessibility, and the store opening times are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
For those that can’t leave their homes unaccompanied due to disability or illness, Specsavers also offers a Home Visits service covering more than 90% of the UK – with more details available at www.specsavers.co.uk/home-eye-tests.
