With lockdown 3.0 showing no signs of easing through February, Elephant and Castle’s Virtual Community Hub is on hand to provide a fun-filled line up of virtual events throughout the month. Keeping spirits high and Londoners entertained, come join a Carnival-themed party or learn how to become a rocket scientist. There is something for all the family to enjoy!
Hot off the heels of the White Dress Party last weekend, the party continues for Elephant & Castle’s Virtual Community Hub with ‘A Night of Carnival’. On Sunday 21st February, expect to see Carnival dancing and video highlights from Carnivals all around the world. There’s a prize for the best themed costumes so don’t forget your feathers and sequins!
And for the young space enthusiasts, the Community Hub are streaming a hands-on rocket building workshop aimed at 12–15-year-olds. Partnering with STEM the Violence, an organisation promoting S.T.E.M as a tool to empower youths to stay away from crime, the workshop will show kids how to build their own water rocket to launch in the air, alongside the basic lessons of rocketry.
The Community Hub will also continue to offer free virtual arts and crafts workshops for 2-10-year-olds every Thursday, with additional sessions during half-term. And for the parents, every Tuesday during February there will be free inspirational talks with special guests touching on topics such as, how to survive as a business in the new digital era – perfect for the tuning into during a mid-morning coffee break. The most recent talk featured Olympic, World and European medallist, Kelly Sotherton where over 2,000 viewers tuned in to watch. All details are available on the Community Hub website.
Further activities continue to run on Elephant and Castle’s Virtual Community Hub, such as Latin Dance Aerobics Workout classes, a Monday morning programme filled with mindfulness activities, Frogprince Baby music live (which has seen over 2,000 views) and Easy Cooking recipe videos for you to follow along to make the most of your home cooking.
