An unmissable mini golf course has bloomed on Greenwich Peninsula, promising a summer full of ‘swing’. Wild Swing is a dopamine-dipped 9-hole mini golf course designed by Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski of Graphic Rewilding. Open until 29 September, Tuesday to Sunday from 12:30-20:00 (12:30-18:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday) for just £2 per person.
Wild Swing kicks off the action for Peninsula Summer with lots of music, food and flavour to look forward to at London’s only peninsula neighbourhood. Jump on the Jubilee Line (North Greenwich), soar across in the IFS Cloud Cable Car or arrive in Uber Boat style, and discover a new side to summer in London. Full season information and booking on the Greenwich Peninsula website.
Graphic Rewilding are renowned for creating vast immersive nature-inspired installations, designed to counterbalance our experience of urban spaces. Their playful, maximalist approach aims to inspire people to connect with the natural world and find a healing space through images and experiences.
Some of their most impressive takeovers include ‘The Pleasure Garden’ at Earl’s Court: a 35-metre mural, sculpture and floor design echoing the pleasure gardens popular during 18th century; and the monumental ‘rewild’ at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush – 1.5 sq km of ever-changing AR mural which is confirmed to be the largest mural installation ever in London.
The incredibly Instagrammable design of Wild Swing takes inspiration from the daisies and pink water forget-me-nots which would have originally been found across the Greenwich Peninsula marsh and wetlands.
Artist Lee Baker from Graphic Rewilding, said:
“Our mission with Graphic Rewilding has always been to bring unexpected eruptions of vibrant colours and art into the everyday urban landscapes. It was a real privilege to create the nature-inspired Wild Swing mini golf course inspired by Greenwich Peninsula’s historical marshlands, and its unique location as the only peninsula neighbourhood in London. We’ve loved working on this project this summer, encouraging more appreciation of art and nature in modern urban living.”
Laura Flanagan, Director at Greenwich Peninsula, said:
“Wild Swing is not your average mini golf pop-up – it’s an artistic installation with the colourful and unique designs stopping you in your tracks. It has been brilliant working with Lee and Catherine at Graphic Rewilding who are known for transforming urban spaces across the country with their stunning floral designs. My favourite part is the connection the design has with the surrounding Greenwich Peninsula marshlands, drawing on the past through the representation of the local flora. It feels like summer has officially arrived on the Peninsula.”
