Awards set to take place in February 2022 are open for nominations from across Sutton from today.
Each year, Sutton’s Community Awards recognise remarkable individuals and groups across the borough. This year sees us looking towards the future and those aiding the recovery and rebuilding of our vibrant community. Last year saw over 270 nominations for individuals, groups and organisations, which were celebrated at a virtual awards ceremony.
Sutton’s Community Awards are run in partnership between Community Action Sutton, Sutton Housing Partnership, Volunteer Centre Sutton, and Sutton Council. The awards aim to celebrate the individuals, volunteers and community groups that have made an exceptional contribution to making Sutton a better place to live, work and raise a family.
There are 10 award categories, including four new awards for 2021:
1. The Outstanding Community Champion Award
2. The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award (new)
3. The Environment Champion Award (new)
4. The Outstanding Volunteer Award
5. The Outstanding Volunteering Group Award
6. The Outstanding Young Person Award
7. The Outstanding Voluntary and Community Sector Organisation of the Year Award
8. The Sue Robson Trustee of the Year Award
9. The Innovator of the Year Award (new)
10. The Lifetime Achievement Award (new)

This year’s awards will look slightly different with a hybrid (physical and virtual) awards ceremony planned for February 2022 and greater opportunities for entries from across Sutton.
The nominations for 2021 are open from Monday 22 November until 5pm on Friday 17 December.

The pandemic highlighted many challenges across the borough and it was heartening to see individuals and organisations step-up to help their community. The awards present a chance to acknowledge and thank them for all that they did and continue to do.”
