Three schools in North London are celebrating after being selected by a Tesco customer to receive a £5,000 Golden Grant at the start of the new academic year.
Customers at Kilburn Express, Kingsbury Circle Express, and Tottenham Hale Village Express were given the chance to take part in a lucky dip to find a golden version of Tesco’s famous blue voting token and use it to award a grant to one of three local schools in the retailer’s Stronger Starts voting round.
Camden School Foundation of Frances Mary Buss, Preston Manor School and Harris Academy Tottenham won a total of £15,000 between them.
Michaela Marshall, Deputy Headteacher at Harris Academy Tottenham, said: “We are so grateful to Tesco and their customers for choosing us to receive this generous grant. It will support us to develop our community hub to enable us to support our families and wider community to access free essentials such as school uniform, food and toiletries.
