The Nursery class of a South-East London primary school have received a boost of £1,500 grant to provide them with much-needed additional resource.
Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School was able to celebrate after receiving the grant, which helped them to establish a new sensory area, with water feature, and add new apparatus in their outdoor learning space to enhance their outdoor learning provision for Early Years children.
The school had applied to the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme, which awards grants to charities and community organisations, and were successful in winning the maximum amount to benefit their Early Years children.
Headteacher of school, Lisa De Souza, said: “We were over the moon when we were told that our Grant application had been successful and that our scheme had won the most Tesco blue token votes.
“The money has enabled us to purchase new equipment and resource to improve our very special outdoor area and specifically to support the youngest children in our school. The children are really enjoying the new resources and are reaping the learning benefits.”
The Stronger Starts scheme, in partnership with the Groundwork charity, aims to support many Bromley community projects and good causes in the coming years, with thousands of pounds to give away.
Claire De Silva, Head of Community at Tesco, said: “We’re delighted that we can help groups and charities like Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School. Stronger Starts invites our customers to use their blue tokens to vote for local schemes they feel will benefit children and young people, and it’s so good to see the impact that the funding makes.”
South-East London shoppers can support their local school and children’s groups by dropping the Tesco blue token they receive at checkout into the relevant voting box as they leave the store.
