Claudina Edwards, from London, is among 26 exceptional individuals to be honoured with the esteemed British Citizen Award (BCA) at the Palace of Westminster. This recognition celebrates their outstanding contributions to society.
The Medal Presentation, set for Thursday 25th July 2024, will see Claudina receive the coveted BCA Medal of Honour for Services to Arts (BCAa). Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominals commemorating their achievements.
For over 20 years, Claudina has been actively volunteering in various community activities including organisations that support those in crisis. Her involvement in initiatives such as the London International Gospel Choir, Union Chapel Voices, and advocacy efforts for social justice causes outlines her long-standing commitment to community service and activism.
Claudina is a Deacon at the Union Chapel Church and is actively involved with the Social Justice team which advocates for the most vulnerable in society. Claudina’s dedication encompasses a broad spectrum of causes including advocating for refugees, supporting Black lives, championing women’s rights, and promoting equality and diversity. This breadth of involvement over 20 years demonstrates her comprehensive understanding of social issues and her willingness to address them proactively.
Claudina’s contributions have had a profound impact on individuals and communities alike. One of the biggest impacts stems from her ability to create spaces of belonging and connection through music. As a member and leader of community choirs, she has provided opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to come together, share their voices, and experience the transformative power of music.

The presentation, hosted by TV presenter Matt Allwright, will be attended by BCA Patrons Dame Mary Perkins, Founder of Specsavers, and The Rt Hon Lord Dholakia. Following the ceremony, medalists will enjoy an Open Top Lap of Honour tour and a certificate presentation at another distinguished Westminster venue.
