The Chesterford Group have raised an astonishing £50,00 for their selected Charity of the Year, Help for Heroes, since they joined the scheme in 2014. Last week they were thanked for their efforts after receiving a prestigious Help for Heroes Hero Award.
Carole Groves, Senior Fundraising Manager at Help for Heroes, said: “The Hero Awards are a chance for us to recognise supporters, volunteers and corporate partners for the time they give and the money they raise in aid of Help for Heroes.”
She added “It doesn’t matter how much someone has raised; it is all about them going ‘above and beyond’ in support of our wounded, injured and sick Service personnel, veterans and their families. We nominated The Chesterford Group for this award as they have been inspirational to work alongside and great fun too!”
Members of staff from the group which includes Churchills, Fishnchickn and Bankers, were due to attend the award ceremony in London on 12th October but a disastrous train journey meant they didn’t make it.
Instead, they were welcomed to Colchester Recovery Centre where they were presented with their award by two Invictus Games Athletes. Rachel Williamson and David Morris, who were fresh from Sydney, but wanted to thank the fundraisers for helping the charity which has supported them.
