THE DUCK AND RICE HEADS SOUTH: NEW BATTERSEA RESTAURANT TO OPEN THIS JULY

0

Celebrating a decade since its acclaimed debut in Soho, The Duck & Rice is set to unveil its second location at Battersea Power Station on 7 July 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the brand, bringing its British pub culture and Cantonese cuisine to a new audience in one of London’s most dynamic developments.

The original Duck & Rice, established in 2015 on Berwick Street, transformed the historic Endurance pub into a vibrant dining destination, seamlessly blending the warmth of a traditional English pub with the classic recipes of a Cantonese kitchen. The new Battersea venue continues this legacy, offering a 185-seat open-plan restaurant featuring an open kitchen and a raised bar area serving beer on tap, cocktails, and soft drinks.

Interior architecture and design studio Macaulay Sinclair has been commissioned to bring the Battersea location to life. The design takes inspiration from the aesthetic and atmosphere of South China’s Cha Chaan Teng and tea houses, spaces where people gather to ‘yum cha’, echoing the British tradition of connecting over a pint down the pub.

After 10 years of serving Soho with its bold take on Cantonese cuisine, Duck and Rice is bringing its signature flavours to Battersea. Guests can expect favourites such as the renowned Cantonese House Roast Duck (£37.50) alongside a carefully curated cocktail and beer selection. Designed for sharing, the menu is a celebration of Cantonese comfort food at its finest. Hero dishes include:

Pork & prawn shumai – light, crispy, and irresistibly moreish £10.50
Curry soft shell crab – savoury and fragrant £17.50
Sweet & Sour pork with rice – a beloved classic, with a balance of tangy, sweet, and savoury £18.00
Vegetable Katsu curry rice – a beautifully balanced vegetarian standout £20.50
Lobster Laksa Half lobster in Laksa broth – with egg noodles, bean sprouts, aubergine & tofu puff £45.00
Each dish reflects the culinary identity of The Duck & Rice: rooted in tradition, elevated by technique, and designed to bring people together.
