The Felix Project fights food poverty in Tower Hamlets with The IN Group, packaging 8,000 meals for the community
London, 12th November- The Felix Group has partnered with The IN Group to package and distribute over 8,000 meals and over 4 tonnes of food to the Poplar, Tower Hamlets, community for those in need.
The programme aims to support local families in the area who are utilising free school meals, helping during school holidays and to fight wider food poverty throughout London.
Sallinder Rai, Community & Events Fundraising Manager at The Felix Project: “We all take things like food for granted and unfortunately, there are still far too many people who are worried about where their next meal is going to come from. We are very grateful to have volunteers come in from organisations such as The IN Group to roll up their sleeves and help chop, prep, and pack 8000 meals over two days. This vital support will see these meals get distributed across London, helping local communities and make all the difference to Londoners in Need.”
Volunteers from recruitment firm The IN Group joined forces at The Felix Project’s Poplar site, working across Felix’s Kitchen and warehouse to prepare ingredients, package meals and organise supplies for local distribution.
Micheal Thornton, Senior Director of Investigo comments: “Supporting our local communities, especially families who depend on free school meals, is critical, particularly as so many essential workers like teachers and nurses struggle with food security. We all take things like food for granted and making this small difference makes everyone realise just how lucky we are to be in the position we are in.
This only really scratches the surface of how we can help those in need, and we are already looking at continuing our support of the Felix Group at Christmas time and in the schools’ holidays next year to help action another project to help those experiencing food poverty. People are at the heart of communities and it’s so important that everyone comes together and supports those in need.”
The IN Group is working with other businesses to round up volunteers for upcoming school holidays to continue delivering food to those in need throughout London.
